Formerly known as the United Methodist Women, through the years there have been various mergers and name changes, but the United Women of Faith’s (UWF) major effort continues to be a mission to improve the lives of women, children, and youth, social action, spiritual growth, and supportive fellowship. SCUMC Women date their group’s formation back to 1879, when The Women’s Foreign Missionary Society was created at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Stephens City, VA.
The SCUMC unit is organized for mission and serves the local church, community and the world through its mission education, advocacy, and direct service through the Board of Global Ministries. UWF support missions (locally, nationally and globally) through gifts, prayers, and service. Our Women are passionate about projects for school and health kits, sending care packages to our college students and military, and spending time in Christian fellowship with one another. Funds are raised through donations and fundraising events. They also support children and youth going to summer camp at our District Church Camp Camp Overlook through scholarships.
