Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging (SAAA)
SCUMC hosts the Frederick County Senior Center Monday -Thursday 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM. Seniors First Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging (SAAA) is a non-profit organization that provides high quality services enabling seniors to continue living independently for as long as they can safely do so.
The Frederick County Senior Center at SCUMC welcomes anyone aged 60 or older for lunch and informative and entertaining programs. There is always something fun to do. Recently, there have been music and dance programs, sewing workshops and the evidence-based Matter of Balance series to help seniors lower their risk of falls. Numerous studies prove that health and cognitive functioning can be enhanced with improvements to nutrition, exercise, stimulating intellectual activity, and the fellowship and support of others. We have volunteers who run meals, help in the kitchen, and provide Programs for the Senior Center. We are always looking for volunteers. If you have a skill or activity that you would like to share with seniors, the Programs time slot is 11:00am – 12pm.
Contact the Frederick County Senior Center Manager, Renee, at 540-869-2444 or through email if you are interested in joining.
