Caring Outreach Team
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
The Caring Outreach Team provides spiritual and holistic care for our church members and regular visitors in support of the Pastor. All are welcome to join this team! The group sends cards to both members and extended family/friends for sickness, sympathy, or to those needing to be uplifted. They also make soup and meals to take to those who may be recovering at home from illness or coming home from the hospital. Our Caring Outreach members are the ones visiting shut-ins, nursing home residents, and others who may need assistance for various reasons.
Caring Outreach also supports our local schools through the Bright Futures program. Bright Futures is part of the Frederick County/Winchester school system and provides food and support to needy students. We have designated the second Sunday of each month as “Bright Futures Sunday” at our church, where our congregation is asked to bring their donations of food items to be given to Bright Futures. These donations go to provide over 1,000 Frederick County and Winchester needy school children with weekend food bags all year long. Formerly known as the MAMA project, Caring Outreach also donates snack items on a regular basis to Middletown Elementary School which are given to children in need.
At Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, a special collection of items is taken up for food boxes to assist with feeding families in need in our local community. We also buy Christmas gifts and make Easter baskets for families receiving the food boxes. We thank our congregation for their generous support and participation in our missions!
The Caring Outreach Team chairperson is Carole Baker. Contact the church office to alert the church regarding sickness, death, upcoming surgery, transportation needs, etc. – Marty passes this information along to the team.
