Vision Founded in Faith

What is the Vision Founded in Faith Campaign?
The Vision Founded in Faith campaign is an intense informational program designed to raise awareness throughout the church to continue support for the recent expansion of our facility.  The Vision Founded in Faith campaign is about making room for more Disciples of Christ, not about bricks and mortar. Plans for the church expansion included a larger fellowship hall, replacing the current educational wing to include more classrooms and administrative offices, making the whole facility handicap accessible and providing additional parking. The cost of the expansion was more than two million dollars.

Where will the money come from?

Church members are given the opportunity to make a sacrificial commitment over a three-year-period, over and above normal tithing and giving to the church, to help fund the expansion. In addition, loans and other financial avenues are being used.

How much will I be asked to give?
The amount of the gift is a personal decision. No one is asked to give a specific amount. Some will be able to give more than others. It is not the size of the gift that is important, instead it's the quality of generosity and sacrifice that the gift represents. NOT EQUAL GIFTS BUT EQUAL SACRIFICE is a core concept of the Vision Founded in Faith campaign. Seek God's will for your sacrifice through prayer. Simply ask, Lord what do you want to do through me to fulfill Your will for our church?

When did the Campaign begin?

The Vision Founded in Faith campaign began in Spring 2004. It is still on-going.

Why should I sacrifice for the Vision Founded in Faith Campaign?

Long before our membership to Stephens City United Methodist Church, faithful congregations sacrificed to build and prepare a place for us to share and spread the love of Christ with each other and our community. From just a handful of people meeting in homes in 1778, the church grew to build its first brick building in 1827. The building was rebuilt in 1882 after the Civil War wiht the current sanctuary structure built in 1913. The educational wing was added in 1966, also allowing an expansion of the sanctuary to serve the growing Stephens City area. The sacrifice and foresight of the previous generations of our church made room for us today. It is now our turn to continue to make room for more disciples of Christ by the Vision Founded in Faith Campaign.
